The name game
Today was our shoot for our common room scene. Below is a snippet of the script for it.
SCRIPT SAMPLE:
The two patients appear on shot, they are both clutching onto a piece cloth tightly, refusing to let go. The cloth is a tattered rag that is stained and turned to a putrid brown colour.
PATIENT 1
This is mine and you are not taking it from me you hear? I found it!
PATIENT 2
No she is mine. She loves me and we’re going to get married in the springtime, (looking into the distance) there's going to be dancing and music.
Patient 2 starts humming, closes his eyes, and dances waving his arm in time of his tune. Patient 1 yanks the cloth from his hand and sniffs it as he walks off screen. Opening his eyes Patient 2, not knowing why he’s there, shuffles into the background. He slides down the wall and sits facing it. He starts pulling his hair out aggressively.
We left one of our flats (walls) blank, this was my idea to let the extras become part of the project. We gave them some fake blood and told them to write on the walls. The end result was very interesting as some choice to write in different languages it looked quite realistic.
Here are some more pictures from the shoot.
The extras at first were very hesitant, so during our break I decided to try and get them more involved in the project. I put on the name game song from American Horror Story: Asylum. I did not expect them to start dancing, I could not pass up the opportunity and ended up filming them dancing.
